Top issues during term (5)(Budget)
budget reserve crisis
Reserves drop $1.1 million in FY2027 and are forecast to fall further in 2028 without more cuts.
city council candidate forum and Measure C sales tax
A half-cent sales tax would cost shoppers a little more at checkout and generate revenue for roads, parks, and the library—or trigger layoffs if it fails.
budget debate
New spending could make a tight budget worse, so the city may need to tighten up before taking on more costs.
Faro Center and homeless drop-in services
Up to $350,000 set aside for FY2027 lease and services.
Local Housing Trust Fund contribution deferred
$1M less for the housing trust fund this year; $2.5M still flows to housing funds overall.
